This island is accessible by BC ferries. I took the ferry from Swartz Bay to Galiano at a cost of $32 with the experience card for a passenger and car on September 30th (the long weekend and they still had at least 12 campsites available). The distance from the ferry terminal on Galiano to Montague Harbour is about an 8 kilometre drive. It is very popular to bike to this camp ground as well.
As I drove into the site I was greeted by self explanatory check in signs. They post a current printed list of people that have reserved a campsite. Given the number of people that have reserved that leaves about 12 campsites still available on a long weekend! Therefore, lots of campsites with a green reserve sign. They have drive in and walk in campsites as well. The walk in sites are about 100 meters from the main parking lot. Right next the main parking lot is the parks office where you can use a yellow double wheeled wheel barrow to haul your camping gear to the desired walk in camping site.
